| Nia offers a four level movement training
program, provided by selected trainers around the world. Fashioned
after the martial arts, each level is defined as white, blue,
brown, or black. Each belt level journeys through the science,
craft, and art of body-mind fitness found in the Nia Technique.
Holly Curtis is currently a provider for level one,
the White Belt.
The emphasis in the White Belt is learning the first 13 principles
which create the elegant foundation of the technique. Every
"body" benefits deeply from this week, whether they
plan to become teachers or not.Everyone, regardless of experience, starts at the first level,
White Belt. No previous experience or training is required
to attend.
Blue Belt focuses on all aspects
of communication and the intimacy skills needed to support
body-mind-spirit teaching and living.
Brown Belt centers on energy and its power to deepen and invigorate
Nia movement. The Black Belt intensive delves into multi-dimensional
levels of mind-body-spirit awareness to stimulate creativity
and healing. Each successive level is open to every "body",
teacher or not. The Brown and Black Belt levels are offered by the founders,
Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, only.
The training program consists of a week long intensive for
each belt, and a minimum of one year of practice at that level
before advancement. If you choose to become a teacher, a Nia
Teacher's license must be optained. Nia teachers are also
required to complete annual continuing education and re-certification.
